Web design today is not just going to be about just style anymore but it’ll also have to make an impact on it’s users. Emotional design focuses on delivering clear messages to make users emotionally engaged. It could be positive emotions like happiness, elegance or humor or it could be negative emotions such as sadness and sympathy. There are no set rules so any visual element on the web-page can be utilized to achieve the desired results.

For instance you could use a red colored theme to create excitement or a yellow colored theme for happiness. Good content is elemental to provoke the thought of a stunning 3D visualization or a video background to create a memorable experience or sentimental images for sympathy. Ultimately the main goal of the design should be to create an emotional impact that also benefits the website’s objective is imperative.

Web GL Effect:

3D & webGL has been a trend for the past few years, but now with more powerful CPU and GPU being released new Apple M1 Chip web designers are now encouraged to utilize 3D engine on their websites even more. Some of the 3D scene that used to be structure are now running at 60 frames per second on the latest generation of laptops & desktops. With the combination of marvelous webGL, Javascript libraries like Three.S and Pixie.JS its no surprise that we are going to be seeing more and more 3D web design in 2021 and the years to come.

Web XR:

Since 2018, the latest virtual reality API WebXR has replaced WebVR, this implies that now developers would be able to create websites that target both VR & AR on all devices with a single code release, one that requires minimal changes for code minions. Today, the VR adoption rate is at its peak being used by almost one fifth of the American population in last year, i.e, 2020. So it is safe to assume that in 2021 we can expect to see more designs that utilize virtual reality to visualize products and experiences for it’s users.

Colourful/Neomorphic Style:

With the release of the latest macOS Big Sur featuring refreshing & colorful designs, it’s almost certain that this will heavily influence and inspire web design themes in the coming years. Big Sur also features a neomorphic style icon which focuses on stimulating the light and shadow effect on the icon texture. We can certainly expect to see a variety of colorful themes, gradient focused design & neomorphic user interfaces on new websites this year & the years to come.

4K Ready Websites:

Not so long ago 1090p resolution was pretty much a standard resolution, but now that 2K and 4K monitors are becoming a lot more affordable many businesses are investing in systems that support these high resolution monitors. So in case your websites are resolution dependable then it might be worth working on the redesign of the website because they might not look so great on high resolution monitors in 2021. More & more web designers are attempting to use vector graphics and CSS instead of rasterized assets. As for those elements that are invertible such as images or video background they have to make sure that these elements are sufficient for 4K resolution. The use of a responsive layout is a must to make sure the website looks equally good on all devices.
